Car Insurance Claims - How to Claim
You have had an accident, or your car has been stolen, and now
you need to make an insurance claim. Where do you begin?
The first step is to ensure that, in the case of a car accident,
you have collected all necessary information from the third party.
This usually includes his identification (or social security) number,
his driver's licence number, his or her name, and his or her vehicle
registration number. Other information required is the date, time
and exact location of the accident. A copy of the statement you
gave the police will also help.
Next it's time to locate all your insurance information (hopefully
kept in a safe place) and contact your insurance company. Some
insurance companies will have an online claim form which you can
complete, others will reuire you to manually fill out a form and
either deliever it to them or fax it to them.
When filling out these claim forms, ensure that you do not leave
any detail out - and be honest about exactly what happened. Insurance
companies have an uncanny knack for catching dishonest individuals,
resulting in any steps from non-payment of a claim to indictment
for insurance fraud!
Once you have submitted your claim, become friendly with the consultant
who assisted you. Many of these people have to put up with angry,
tempremental clients, and by being nice to them not only will you
brighten their day but they will brighten yours too! A fresh, cheery
voice from a client during a claim will get you amazing results,
and will more often than not push you to the front of the claim
queue.
Keep following up! Contact the consultant regularly to check on
the status of your claim. Out of sight, out of mind, is never more
apt that when it comes to insurance claims. Make sure you keep
your finger on the pulse of your claim.
